Python Bytes #135: Python Popularity for Data Science, and Some New Python Tricks
This is a recent appearance I made on the podcast Python Bytes. Check out the show notes here!
Python Bytes is hosted by Michael Kennedy and Brian Okken, and is a weekly podcast that helps you keep up with all the latest python news. Unlike most developer podcasts, Python Bytes is fun and fast paced, and it’s definitely work checking into it if you are a python developer. I used to think I had to read textbooks to be on top of the latest trends.. now I learn that you can just listen to this podcast on the way to work!
In my portion of it, I spoke about the increasing popularity (and arguably domination) of python in Data Science and statistical modeling, and the rising popularity of the language as a whole over the last few years. I also looked into some features that are coming in Python 3 that I should make use of, such as enumerated types and nicer formatted strings.
We also read a script that was inexplicably left in the latest Python release notes. Check it out! It also comes with a full transcript.
